Do you want to have a great time? Maybe even a life-changing time? Then sign up for a camp, not a camping around a fire variety, but a teen camp. Let me explain.
When I was about 16 years old, my parents took my brother and me to a Christian camp in upstate New York called Word of Life. Imagine a breathtaking setting: mountains, forests, massive pine trees, a serene lake, and a picturesque island. Imagine hundreds of young people, sports, paintball, competitions, music, improv comedy, lake time, ice cream cruise, beach limbo, and opportunities to make new friends.
But I was less than thrilled. It was all new and out of my comfort zone. I did not want to leave my friends and routine. However, the moment I stepped on the ferry boat, felt the cool air, and journeyed to the island, something started to change. When I stepped onto the island and met fellow campers and cabin mates, and attended the first program, I was thrilled.
I attended the camp ten years in a row—five as a camper and five as a counselor. Exciting hardly begins to describe my experience. The camp changed my life, adding confidence, happiness, friends, and wonderful memories.
There were other camps, such as Liberty University’s summer basketball camp. That was so much fun, I went several times.
Give one a try, it might be more fun than you’ve ever had before. And it might completely change your life, for the better.
